Natural separation is normal due to the use of coconut oil. It is very important to squish the tube well before each use to ensure an even blend. Texture will vary depending on your environment if your home is cooler, expect a firmer paste, if warmer, expect a softer consistency. For a thicker texture, store in the refrigerator.
